The Greatest of All Blessings
This year (2023) I finished and published for the family That Ye May Learn Wisdom. Marjorie and I are reading several articles per day from it. This year we have read all of the other books which preceded it. She's worried that we're going through these too fast, and will finish. We are astonished at how inspirational and good the articles are. My opinion is that these books should stand next to the scriptures to be used in teaching my children and grandchildren of every generation. I am grateful beyond words that I wrote these thoughts. I am astounded at what I've done. These things have great value. These books contain over a thousand articles.
I wrote these thoughts while under the influence of the Holy Ghost.—And then I've largely forgotten them. It's simply astonishing to go back and have these thoughts all over again. I ask myself, “Did I really do that?” I really, really hope that my children are daily using these things. I think that they have the power to keep my posterity close to the Lord and to His gospel in the coming day of trial and turbulence.
This morning I read this from Doctrine and Covenants:
“Hearken and hear, O ye my people, saith the Lord and your God, ye whom I delight to bless with the greatest of all blessings, ye that hear me ...” (D&C 41:1).
That's me. I have been blessed with the greatest of all blessings. I can hardly believe how blessed I am. The Lord delights to bless me. What a wonderful thought! He has blessed my family. I am trying to do the same.
I hope my children are daily using my books to instruct my grandchildren. Those that do, find it enjoyable. I am thrilled with the thought that I am going to have the power to influence for good the lives of my ever-so-great grandchildren. Who has ever had such a blessing? I think that a daily dose from these books has the power to cement my grandchildren to the Lord for the next thousand years.
I hope we don't lose a one.
