I had a bit of an epiphany yesterday as I prayed while waiting for the sacrament to reach me.  I thanked the Lord for the privilege it was to be there to take the sacrament and to be forgiven of my sins.  The Holy Ghost then weighed in and pointed out all the other privileges that I enjoy.

It is a privilege to be able to renew our covenants each week, and to be able to recommit to keeping them.  It is a privilege to have these covenants.

It is a privilege to hold the Savior's Priesthood, to have a testimony, and to be able to serve.

It is a privilege to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion and guide.

It is a privilege to have the Bible and additional books of scripture which give us such knowledge and hope.

It is a privilege to be a father, and it is a privilege to be married eternally to Marjorie.  I am most blessed and privileged.

It is a privilege to be able to associate with good, like-minded people.

It is a privilege to have and to understand the commandments which keep me safe.

Privilege is defined as "a peculiar benefit, advantage, or favor."  As members of the Church we have lots of benefits, advantages, and favors.  We are the most blessed and privileged people in the world.

I wanted to get up and bear my testimony to that effect, but I didn't want to intrude on other's opportunities to bear theirs.  It was a wonderful testimony meeting, with no pauses, and there was never an opportunity for me to get up.

In her testimony Sister Maxwell observed that everything orbits around the sun (s-u-n).  In the Church everything orbits around the Son (S-o-n).  When we keep our lives in their proper orbit, all things fall into place.

We enjoy many, many other privileges.  A profitable question to ask is, "Why me?"  Most of the people of the world don't have these privileges.

We have the privilege of having living prophets and apostles, of temples, and of being able to provide temple ordinances for ancestors who preceded us.

We have comfortable homes, food to eat, running water, electricity, penicillin, and medical knowledge that can keep us healthy and active.  The vast majority of people in the world don't have the privileges that I have.

Why me?

I think it is because I have tried to keep my life in its proper orbit around the Son.
