WHY I LOVE YOU

Mothers Day 2025

I love your gentleness. I've known you now for 61 years and I've never seen you angry.

I love that we've been married now for coming up 56 years and no cross words have ever passed between us.

I love your even disposition. I've only caught you crying once. You were pregnant again. That meant an end to your dancing exercises and your gardening routine, and the beginning of morning sickness. That melancholy moment lasted maybe two hours.

I love that you're always happy. Two hours of melancholy against 22,263 hours of smiles is a world record ratio.

I love your smile. It is always there.

I love how you radiate light.

I love the children that you gave me. 10 of them. The best in the world. They've given us 56 more.

The next generation is going to be hard to keep track of. 11 right now, two on the way, and 237 yet to come. That makes you a mother supreme.

I love that you love flowers and plants. Like your family, they thrive under your care.

I love your music. You play piano daily. All our married life. I calculated that you're a world class expert, having put in well over the required 10,000 hours.

I love that your music doesn't stop at the piano. There is a constant song in your head and heart. It comes out as a hum.

I love that you dance. I can't. I admire that. You do steps every day. It's evidence that you're happy.

I love your happiness. Your happiness is the reason I'm happy.

I love your bread baking. I love your bread.

I love your frugality. With just your bread baking, hair cutting, sewing, transportation services,

gardening, counseling, cooking, and errand running you have saved me hundreds of thousands of dollars. Literally.

I love our comfortable home. You provide the atmosphere.

I love that we're united in everything. I love being your twin.

I love that you were my missionary. Thank you for teaching me. Thank you for saving me. Thank you for giving me that Book of Mormon.

Thank you for serving a mission with me.

Thank you for serving in the temple with me.

Thank you for giving me an eternal family.

Thank you for your patience with me.

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for being my wife.

I love that you love me. I wonder why. I love that we will be together forever.

Love, James
