Thoughts from General Conference

The just-completed general conference was most impressive. President Russell M. Nelson ended the conference by exhorting Church members to follow through with the impressions that they had. This article is to help me do that.
The last impression I received was that in his closing remarks 98-year-old President Nelson was telling us goodbye. This is surprising and upsetting. He has been so vital and energetic and such a wonderful leader that we have all expected and hoped that he’d be leading the Church well past his 100th birthday.

I am at loose ends and confused this morning. I don’t know what to do. I reached my goal yesterday of indexing general conference talks, and have no more to do. I’m a creature of habit, and this is going to upset my whole daily routine.

Conference Notes, Quotes, and Thoughts

1. The audio was eight seconds ahead of the visual transmission for our Saturday afternoon session. That caused a most unfortunate result. President Oaks was conducting the sustaining of officers. Because of the delay, as he asked for any negative votes, the First Presidency all raised their hands each time. At the top of my page of notes I wrote: “When we are slow to react, we may lose the opportunity, and may even bring about the opposite result of what we had hoped.”

My Feelings After Conference

I have just listened to the two Saturday general sessions of April 2020 conference. They were tremendous. Conference was filled with the Spirit. I made notes. There are many things that I want to think about and to write about. As I do so, I know that the Spirit will teach me additional things.
