It’s always refreshing to meet someone who is passionate about something. It’s interesting to hear him or her discourse on what he’s excited about.
Today we met a young man who attended our ward for the first time with his wife, two little boys, and his mother. He has taken a job at our local car dealership. His mother explained that he is passionate about cars.

Gifts

My Creator has given me many gifts. I am grateful for them, and I find myself thanking Him for them each day. Chief among them is the gift of repentance. The gift of my covenants is another. Third is the gift of my callings (Moroni 7:2) which have developed me and given me skills. Fourth is the gift of the Priesthood which I am allowed to hold and to use. Fifth is the gift of my eternal family.

I finished reading the Book of Mormon a few minutes ago for the 83rd time. I could have read the final chapter last night, but I saved it for this morning so that I’d finish on Joseph Smith’s birthday. (23 December 2020). I note that this is the 4th time that I’ve finished on his birthday.

Different Wavelengths

Mac’s three siblings went to see him at his home on 18 September 2020 instead of going for the traditional Friday morning walk. He had just gotten out of the hospital, and was not up to a hike. His son, Wesley, was there, and reported on his father’s condition on a previous occasion as he was getting out of the hospital. Wes said, “On my way there to get him, I took note of a road sign that warned, ‘6% grade for next 6 miles.’ I wondered out loud how many feet drop in elevation that would amount to. Dad was groggy coming out of the hospital, but without any hesitation, he looked up and said, ‘1,200 feet.'”

Gifts

As I knelt to have my evening prayer I was interested to note the words that I used. I thanked my heavenly Father for “the gift of my marvelous wife,” and “the gift of the scriptures” that I was about to read. I then got into bed, opened the Book of Mormon, and the second verse that I read was Mormon telling the people that he was permitted to speak unto them “because of the gift of (God’s) calling unto (him).” (Moroni 7:2).
