Resurrection
What Has Jesus Done For Me?
I was asked in general conference to write a one-page summary of what the Savior has done for me.
He brought me from darkness into light. I hadn’t even known that I was in darkness. The contrast is extreme. Because of my rescue, the possibility exists that none of my posterity will ever experience that darkness. I fervently pray that may be so.
That Which Has Been
It is said, “That which has been is that which shall be,” or that “history repeats itself.”
It occurs to me that two of the world’s most momentous and significant events are going to be repeated, and we’d better be ready for them.
Missing the Message of the Resurrection
As I was reading the account of the verbal exchange between Zeezrom and Amulek in Alma chapters 11 and 12, I became amazed as I realized that Zeezrom knew nothing about the resurrection. I thought that everyone knew that there would be a resurrection.

In August of this year, there occurred a tragedy in Salt Lake County. It was reported in the local and national press. Over twenty years ago one of my favorite general authorities visited our stake. Vaughn J. Featherstone asked that someone be assigned to speak in stake conference on the Atonement. The assignment fell to me. I decided that the best preparation I could make would be to reread all four accounts of the Atonement in the Gospels in the New Testament. I got my scriptures, hiked over to our North 40, sat down under the big pine tree there in the draw, and read what Matthew, Mark, Luke and John each had to say about the last week of the Savior’s mortal life. It was a very enlightening and moving experience.

On Sunday, April 7, 2013 I sat by a window in a straight-backed chair for most of six hours. With both ears I listened to the proceedings of general conference; while with one eye I watched conference on the computer monitor, and with the other eye I watched our mountains. The mountains and the weather were doing spectacular things.
