The Clock’s in High Gear

I’ve observed that time is passing faster and faster. My 89-year-old non-member cousin put his finger on the cause. He observed that the clock is in high gear, and boy, is it ever. You’ve noticed it, too.
The Lord Himself said that “I will hasten my work in its time.” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:73).

A Stunning Time

I first became aware of the passage of time when I was in the first grade. I suppose that before then there were no milestones to mark the passage of time, so I was unaware. But that school year provided a milestone, and those nine months of the first grade were really, really long.

Observations on the Sun

I look to the east and study the familiar silhouette of the 30-40 peaks that constitute my view of the Wallowa Mountains. The sky is clear. Where and when will the sun make its appearance?

I thought to myself, “What foolish dogs, chasing a false rabbit that they can never catch.” My next thought was, “How fortunate that we’re humans and have our priorities straight. We have more sense than to chase uncatchable mechanical rabbits.”

John Bennion

The story of the Church is a story of chain reactions. One step in the process of the Restoration always leads to another. A chain reaction was initiated by Joseph Smith’s reading of James 1:5 that continues today in an ever-widening, ever-lengthening chain of events that is currently linking millions of lives in miraculous ways.
