Emerging Into Light
Hands outstretched in front of me,
Not a glimmer can I see;
Carefully groping through the dark,
Searching for an unseen mark.
The blackness that’s in my mind,
Has rendered me almost blind;
Where to go and what to do
Is unclear—I have no clue.
We must endure, we must seek,
To find some light that we can keep;
It always comes to you and me,
If we keep searching patiently.
For me the light came from a friend
Who thoughtfully a book did lend;
And like a beacon in the night,
Suddenly I saw the light.
The way’s now lighted far ahead,
And I no longer feel dread.
For all the light she gave to me,
I’ll be thankful eternally.
