Happy Birthday, Marjorie

I was hoping you’d get up today,

I’m glad you’re still alive;

After all, it isn’t every day,

That one turns sixty five.

Congratulations are in store,

For making it so far;

You’ve opened yet another door,

And raised again the bar.

This could be a new experience—

Living with a senior wife—

But it likely won’t make a difference,

Since together we’ve spent our life.

I guess I can’t surprise you much,

There’s really nothing new;

But thank you for your loving touch,

I so depend on you.

You make me happy and alive,

You’re better than a gem;

You give me purpose and my drive,

You’re my best and only friend.

Why you chose me and endure,

Is a mystery to me;

You’re so good and you’re so pure,

That you’ve set my spirit free.

I couldn’t do without you, dear,

I’m happy, singing, humming;

I know I’ll stay full of cheer,

If you keep those birthdays coming.
