Ivy’s Rawr
A true story, written hoping that some family artist might illustrate it for a children's book.
Little Ivy was scared of Rawrs.
Ivy didn't exactly know what a Rawr was. All she knew was that she was supposed to be scared of them.
Ivy had three older brothers, Aaron, Adam, and Danny. They were constantly jumping out at her and going, "RAWR." That always surprised and scared her.
Her brothers teased her about going into dark places, and warned her that there might be a Rawr in there. She avoided dark places.
Because of her brothers she knew that there were Rawrs outside in the dark.
Because of her brothers, she knew that there might be Rawrs under her bed.
That's why she insisted on sleeping with her big sisters, Amy or Heidi.
Because of her brothers Ivy knew that Rawrs were big, mean, and dangerous, but she still didn't know what they looked like.
Ivy's imagination came up with many fearsome pictures of what a Rawr was.
Finally one day Ivy discovered what a Rawr looked like. She saw a picture of one as her daddy carried her into Chinese restaurant.
She pointed at the dragon painted on the wall and said, "That's a Rawr!" Mama and Daddy laughed! They explained that Rawrs aren't real.
They talked to Ivy's brothers, and Rawrs were never mentioned again.
Ivy started sleeping in her own bed.
