Josiah’s Feet

Isaiah 52:7

Josiah Nathan, child of charms,

Lying calmly in my arms;

Snuggled here so quietly,

I wonder what you’ll grow to be?

With little legs encased in casts,

How long will this affliction last?

Such tiny feet now bent askew,

I wonder what they’ll grow to do?

For just a flash I catch a glimpse

Of what you’ll be two decades hence;

I see you standing confidently,

A tall and handsome missionary,

In white shirt, suit, name tag, and tie,

The vision quickly passes by;

But you were not in the least impeded,

For through it all you had succeeded.

You stood so confident and sure,

With your heart and hands clean and pure;

A worthy vessel of the Lord,

Having taught a people God’s true word.

Because of you they found the Fountain;

And so declare upon the mountain,

That they’ve become ripened wheat

Because of your beautiful feet.

While holding Josiah this day, I was given a revelatory flash where for an instant I could see him as a young man.  In that same instant I was given the substance of this poem, although properly putting the words together took another 30 minutes of effort.
