Joy to Spare

There is a joy, above the rest,

More precious than they all;

Gracing life, outlasting death,

Of treasures set among the best,

'Tis life's most noble call.

Early I sought something in my life,

Not knowing for what I looked;

Seeking peace amid the strife

I found a kind and loving wife,

The search I then forsook.

Marriage to thee, dear, has been

The sweetest life can bring;

Thy love toward me, pure as a gem,

Has made me rich above all men—

My heart, alway, within me sings.

There is a joy, above the rest,

More precious than they all;

Gracing life, outlasting death,

Of treasures set among the best,

Our marriage soars above them all.
