Ivy has to give a Mother's Day talk in sacrament meeting tomorrow. (11 May 2025). I found this note from her this morning as I checked my emails:

"Dad, I"m trying to find a certain story about mom. It tells about her roommates, and how they avoided being in their apartment unless mom was there."

Here is my response:

"I don't believe that I've put that in any article that could be found. But here is the story:

Upon graduating from high school, Marjorie went to BYU. She was in an apartment with five other roommates. They were all upper classmen. Marjorie was the only freshman. Several weeks after school started one of the girls asked Marjorie for her class schedule. Hearing that request, another girl said, "I want it, too!"

"Why do you want my schedule?" Marjorie asked.

"Because everything feels different when you're here. I don't want to be here when you're not home. When you're not in the apartment we're fighting, and at each other's throats. When you're here everything is peaceful, and we all get along."
