No Funeral

I look forward to the Millennium.  I look forward to the Lord’s second coming when the earth will be cleansed of all unrighteousness, when all enmity will be banished, when peace shall reign, when Satan will be bound and shall have no power, and when all that is now sealed shall be revealed.  We’ll have more scripture, and will learn about the world’s history.

Best of all is my current thought that my body won’t be spending much time in the grave, and maybe none at all.  The resurrection of the righteous will occur at the Lord’s coming, just as it did when He came the first time.  The Lord’s coming is close.  If I die before He comes, I’ll have a funeral, be buried, and will be resurrected a short time thereafter.  If I live to see His coming I will have no funeral, and will instead be changed in the twinkling of an eye from mortality to immortality at some near or distant time following His coming.

These are exciting times, and exciting things to contemplate.  My grandchildren, at least, can look forward to what I think is a certainty: that if they live righteous lives, there will be no funerals held in their behalf.
