Ordinance Workers

A close community of Saints,

Unlike another anywhere,

Where enmity and sin don’t taint

The purity of feeling there.

Fifteen shifts of forty-some men,

Whose motives are service and love,

To sacred duties there attend,

Returning thanks to those above.

Humbly and with soft precision

Are their sacred actions wrought,

As they with total consecration

Repeat the lessons God wants taught.

Six hundred men in harmony

Is an army that is ample,

To change an area’s destiny

Through ordinances of the temple.

The holy temple affects them

With changes from the inside out,

And turns them into different men

Whose steadfast faith replaces doubt.

Multiply these by a hundred,

(And then again eventually),

And this army is a standard

That will affect eternity.
