Our Little Katie Dear

Radiant hues of morn

Gently caress the leaves

A tiny girl is born

God's gift in love to me.

I feel a humble pride

This is how love should be

A glow from deep inside

Ours for eternity.

The days slip by to weeks

Another morning breaks

I tiptoe where she sleeps

To watch her softly wake.

I speak her name to see

A smile light up her face

I scarcely dare to breath

Feeling her first embrace.

The wonder of this child

Unfolding year by year

Peacemaker, sweet and mild,

Helpful and full of cheer.

Oh may she ever be

Filled with all charity

And may her heart be pure

Our little Katie dear.

Song written to a French tune

21 June 1983.  Katie was born

early one fresh, summer morning.

As a baby she would always smile

at you when awaking before she

could get her eyes open.
