To Dad

To Dad,

I got disgusted looking at commercial birthday cards, and decided I could probably say what I wanted better by making my own verse.  Hence, my stab at poetry.

Happy Birthday.

Where is there more respect,
than between a father and his son;
Where is there more gratitude,
for the things a man has done?

Where is more admiration
of one person for another;
Than held in the devotion,
of a son to his father?

I shall always be grateful,
for the father I have had;
From happiness making a heartful,
I say—I love you, Dad.
