Visits From The Other Side, #1
Excerpt from a letter written by Paul Hunt, Buhl, Idaho to Orlan Van Leuven, Emmett, Idaho 19 June 1933:
"Dear Orlan: I am sending you the information you wanted from Bro. Van Leuven in Twin Falls. I spent the afternoon with him yesterday and quite enjoyed it for I found him to be quite an interesting old gentleman. His name is William Elliott Van Leuven….
"I guess his brothers are all dead except (one). He told me quite an interesting story in connection with his elder brother Seth. (Seth) was in California about fifty some odd years ago, when he was about 23 years of age and he wrote home to his folks telling them he was leaving for home but they never saw or heard of him from that time on.
"Old brother Van (Leuven) here in Twin Falls says that a year or so ago his brother Seth came to him in a dream or vision and requested that his temple work be done and also told him that he had been killed in California and robbed of his money. Bro. Van (Leuven) said that he wanted to do the work but all the family records had been burned so that dates of birth etc could not be had.
"He said that once more his brother came to him in a dream and requested the work done and he told him he couldn't do it because the records were lost and he asked Seth when he was born & when & where he died and (Seth) replied that the records would be furnished when he was ready for them.
"The old gentleman said that one morning that he walked to his table and found on it an unsealed unaddressed envelope containing all of the family genealogy and he now has it in his possession. He said that he talked to Bro. Ballard at the temple (who) told him that the work could be done because what he had experienced was a visitation from the spirit world. He done this work…"
