In the April 2002 general conference Dallin H. Oaks told of a woman who offhandedly asked, "What has Jesus Christ done for me?"

 

As I took the sacrament today that question went through my head. I was astonished at the answer. I grabbed my pen, and quickly jotted down twelve all-encompassing, far-reaching things that Jesus has done for me. Every one of them is huge, and the list could go on and on.

 

1. Jesus Christ has given me the opportunity and ability to repent of my sins.

2. He has given me the gift of the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.

3. He has given me the opportunity to hold and to use His Priesthood.

4. He has enabled me to make covenants.

5. He has given me commandments to keep me from making serious mistakes.

6. He has given me an eternal marriage and an eternal family.

7. He has given me the promise of a glorious resurrection.

8. He has given me the promise of eternal life with Him.

9. He gives me daily guidance.

10. He gives regular answers to prayer.

11. He has given me peace of conscience.

12. He has given me opportunities to serve, and to bless others' lives.
