What I Learned at College
What did I learn at college that is of most value to me?
I learned how to draw boxes in the texts of magazines.
Professor Anderson explained that you can index a talk from general conference by breaking it up into individual thoughts. You draw a box around the thought that you want to preserve for future use, and write a one-line description in your index of what is to be found there. If the thought continues into the next column or onto the next page, you leave the bottom of your box open, and similarly leave the top of the continuing box open.
Drawing boxes in the texts of the conference issues is something that I've done now for 50 years. It has connected me to Christ, intimately acquainted me with all of the General Authorities, vastly expanded my knowledge, and cemented my testimony.
When I get to the other side I must look up Professor Anderson and thank him for teaching me how to draw boxes.
